LEADERSHIP

Served with distinction for 28 years as a Principal in Denver and three other metro area school districts. Mike was responsible for the successful management of multi-million dollar budgets in five schools, and he knows how to ensure that tax dollars flow directly to the local school.

Recognized by the Colorado Department of Education as a Center of Excellence school four years in a row.

Served two years as the President of the Denver Association of School Administrators.

Coached over fifty principals and administrators in DPS and other states.

Works part-time as a Denver realtor, executive coach, and an Educator Effectiveness Specialist with the Colorado Department of Education.
DEDICATION

Taught twelve years in parochial, private, and public schools working with students in grades K-9, and served as a district-level reading coordinator for six years.

Supported principals and their leadership teams while working for several local, state, and national educational organizations.

Dedicated to enacting policies that will ensure fairness in school funding for every public school. Mike will advocate for the necessary conditions in schools so ALL students develop their individual strengths, interests, and skills.
EDUCATION

Graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL with a B.A. in History. He completed his M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado, Denver.

Received his Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and his dissertation was titled, “The Role of the Elementary Principal in Influencing Reading Achievement.”
FAMILY

Lives in Mayfair with his partner, and he has four grown children and four grandkids. His youngest grandson is a DPS elementary student, and his daughter is a DPS secondary school counselor. (pictured above)

Mike will use his knowledge and leadership skills to improve and enhance the school experiences for ALL DPS students and their families.
